I met the late artist Eder on several occasions, since the era of Khalida Tome and Mihoubi, Eder was present on some official occasions especially organized by (Onda) and sometimes at the memorial service of the late artists. But he refused to sing in Algeria, as he stated in the forum of the newspaper (Liberty) in 2015: “I refuse to sing in Algeria as long as this regime is in power” (he meant Bouteflika’s regime).
On the following day (February 3, 2015) from the launch of this strong statement, Eder boarded the plane, leaving the country for France, and it did not reappear in Algeria except in the spring of 2016, as a guest of honor, an open day organized by (Onda) within the framework of the state’s efforts to protect copyright, Where were over a million pirated CDs destroyed?
Two days after that date, Edir reappeared on May 31, 2016, and he sat in the first row while the former Prime Minister Abdel-Malik Sallal was honoring a number of artists (of course it was not appropriate for Idir and Mami White to receive movables, the check in front of the camera lenses) .
Eider's loved ones (especially from the Kabylie region) did not defeat this appearance to him alongside Bouteflika's ministers, and some wrote at the time criticizing his move, and some commented using Bouteflika's famous phrase: ".Tout le monde a un prix." Has a price).
Nevertheless, Idir continued to maintain the safety distance, which kept his fans' appreciation, and the plan was to persist in his refusal to sing in Algeria.
He also previously pledged not to sing in Algeria except in the event that the Amazigh language was demarcated, and it actually happened and Bouteflika announced the demarcation of the Amazigh language, after 22 years of waiting, and he made 12 January a national holiday with pay, which is celebrated every year .
In the scenes, negotiations between him and Onda lasted two years until he was convinced to sing in a huge party organized on (January 5, 2018).
Two things convinced Idir to sing in Algeria, (according to what I gathered at the time from those close to him) first, the human sense of the date of his departure, and he reached the age of high and exhausted the dreaded disease, and the second guaranteeing his financial rights from (Onda) and not from a political side, then the decision came For singing (le retrouvaille) after 38 years of estrangement, and I think it is the most appropriate and harmonious title with the artist's relationship with his homeland.
